I’m constantly fascinated by what our society will look like once automation of work is complete. So much of our lives today are structured around what we do for a living, instead of what we do for fun.
I created CrossPitch for such a future, where our days are not taken up by working for our dinner and rent, but instead have to find ways to fill our time with tasks that we enjoy.
CrossPitch is a rhythm-based cross stitching game. The player gets to choose what color the squares in the pattern are to a smooth and relaxing soundtrack. The pattern always maintains radial symmetry, which makes the creation of interesting images easy to beginners, but also allows experienced users to make more complicated and involved patterns.
This game is as challenging as the player wants to make it. They can carefully plan ahead, and prepare themselves to press the keys correctly when the time comes, or they may choose colors on the fly and enjoy the result that comes out of it.
My hope is that CrossPitch is a game that provides a creative and challenging outlet to a world where there’s nothing left to do.
